Overview
This article will discuss how to set up and use Complimentary or Substitute parts during order entry.
Setting Up Complementary Parts
By definition, Complementary Parts are considered any parts and quantities of items that are commonly sold with the currency Inventory Item. Before we begin you need to make sure that all parts that will be used, are currently set up as part of your local and or master inventory.
To add a complementary part, from the main menu go to Inventory > Inventory Manager > Item Manager to search for the item you want to add these parts too.
From the Item Manager page select the ‘Product Info’ tab.
Our focus of this section will be in the Complementary Part Numbers area. To add a complementary part select the +Add
.
Here you will search for the complementary part number, the suggested quantity, and any comments. Then select Ok.
The item will now appear in the section
In the scenario you have multiple complementary parts, continue to add the parts here, then use the up and down arrows to place them in order of importance.
After you have finished your set up, make sure you save your changes before exiting the item manager.
Setting Up Substitute Parts
By definition, Substitute Parts are considered any parts for items that are interchangeable with the current Inventory Item. Before we begin you need to make sure that all parts that will be used, are currently set up as part of your local and or master inventory.
To add a substitute part, from the main menu go to Inventory > Inventory Manager > Item Manager to search for the item you want to add these parts too.
From the Item Manager page select the ‘Product Info’ tab.
Our focus of this section will be in the Substitute Part Numbers area. To add a substitute part select the +Add
.
Here you will search for the substitute part number, and any comments. Then select Ok.
The item will now appear in the section
In the scenario you have multiple substitute parts, continue to add the parts here, then use the up and down arrows to place them in order of importance.
After you have finished your set up, make sure you save your changes before exiting the item manager.
Viewing & Using Complementary or Substitute Parts
Now that you have your complementary and substitute parts configured these can now be viewed and used while doing order entry.
While in a new quote and you enter an item number that has complementary parts associated with it when entered view your in basket to view the complementary parts.
If you want to add any one of these parts to your order, select ‘Add to Quote.’ The quantity and item number will be added to the order grid.
In the scenario that you’ve entered an item on an order that is out of stock, it would be good practice to view the Substitution Parts section to see if there is an item that you can use to substitute for the customer.
If you choose to use the substituted item, select that item, and it will replace the item you originally entered.
